From the Director
I’d like to extend a warm welcome and a great thanks to you for attending the Santa Barbara Gay Men’s Chorus second annual winter concert! I am honored to have been appointed the new Artistic Director of this talented and inspiring group. Choral singing is all about community, and I am thankful to have found a new musical community while also creating space and highlighting our greater LGBTQI+ community right here in Santa Barbara. When developing tonight’s program I was drawn to the complexities of the winter season, specifically its capacity for extreme darkness, yet also extreme hope and light. In our LGBTQI+ community the last several years have brought about many positive changes, and yet darkness still exists. It is my hope that we can continue to Sing the Darkness to Light and create space for all to feel safe, respected, and loved. Tonight’s performance is dedicated to our fallen brothers and sisters in Colorado Springs: Raymond, Kelly, Daniel, Derrick, and Ashley.
Thank you for your support,
Timothy Accurso
Artistic Director
